As this is a personal project and I am not sure where this is heading to, I thought I’d share some diary-like progress reports in here. Hope this will help you to understand why some things do not work properly yet – and also, I’d encourage you all to use the comment section to let me know your thoughts of all this. June 8th 2020: it finally happened, I am pre-launching Koloury.com. What began as thoughts during the last outdoor photo scouting is coming to life. Sure, for the start, there’s just the article about what Koloury should be about. We’ll see what’s next. First, I need to dive deep into WordPress Editing and the uncountable numbers of plugins, also need to upload the image library onto my servers.
June 9th 2020: uploaded my library and started to rename all single photo files – description shall be added in future
June 10th 2020: the first article is published which took me roughly 2 hours to write and another hour to record, edit and reframe the audio file. Curious if this feature will be used or not. Also, I added a gallery with some preview for future photo discussions from my library. Until now just random choices, might apply changes later.
June 11th 2020: I added two more pages – About Koloury and What’s in my backpack. Thought this is useful content.
June 13th 2020: Added this Site Work Progress Page
June 20th 2020: second article including audio version has been uploaded.
June 28th 2020: cookie & privacy policy has been implemented, also cookie consent form has been created.
July 2020: working on site performance before uploading further materials, not satisfied with the responsiveness of the gallery and subsites.
August 2020: working on permanent switch to a new gallery software, making direct Instagram integration possible and hopefully achieving a big plus in terms of performance on both desktop and mobile devices. Also originally planned to optimise the website on mobiles, but didn’t work out yet. In the meantime, a new article on architecture has been published.
September & October 2020: already uploaded new articles, but will publish everything in 2021 when the full release is planned to happen.
November & December 2020: contacting some partners to have koloury mentioned on other websites and to increase popularity. Biggest goal for 2021: have real and deep photographer-discussions on koloury.
March 2021: finally applied a browser caching solution as well as compression of pictures. Site speed should be improved by about 60%. Try it!
July 2021: photo store including priniting options has been integrated. Have fun and happy about feedback!
August 2021: fixed the permalink-issue for the photostories. Should work well now. Thanks for reaching out to me.
